CHILDREN EDUCATION – SRI SRI SEVA MANDIR, NOIDA
In March, 2002 after Holi
festival, Pujya Guruji gave a nationwide call to AOLites to give special attention
to slum areas and villages and initiate Seva activities in right earnest for the
integrated development of slum areas in urban cities and also the rural areas.

Education now is a fundamental
right of each child in the age group of 6-14 years in India. Earlier also the national
policy on education has accorded priority to universalization of elementary education,
yet lakhs of children are deprived of the primary education in the National Capital
Territory of Delhi alone. The government has invited voluntary efforts to supplement
the efforts put-up by the government of India in solving the problems of education
of elementary age group children particularly in slum areas.

It is therefore essential to utilize alternative schooling
in a big way to achieve universalization of elementary education as well as develop
new material based on the principle of self-learning. We conducted a survey of sector-9
area and found that many children were not going to school. Therefore we started
a Non-Formal Education program for the benefit of these children, who were unable
to go to school due to variety of reasons.
These activities are going on in Sri Sri Seva Mandir, Noida since July 2003.

The objective of our program is to:
1. To supplement the formal stream of education with Non-Formal Education so as to achieve universalization
of primary education in the intended area of working.
2. Work for universalization of primary education as well as improve quality of education.
3. Integrated vocational training programs with educational programs with a view to generate employment.
4. Start child centered creativity centers for all-round development of the child.
We invite whole hearted participation of the AOL family by sharing the tears and tribulation of many under privileged children of our society and give them love, care and encouragement for their better future. We request the AOL members particularly those who have done DSN programs to sponsor children for education (Rs.1,100=00 per year), donate study materials, computers and spare time for conducting Art excel, Nav Chetna Shivir in Slum areas in Noida.
